About Dr. Olufunke Awosogba
Dr. Funke is trained in clinical health psychology. She primarily uses bio-psycho-social-cultural-spiritual and cognitive-behavioral approaches in conceptualizing and intervening with patients. She received specialized training in Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia which she integrates into her work as needed. Dr. Funke's clinical focus is adults with chronic medical conditions. She strives to help this population achieve optimal psychological well-being and a better quality of life. She is also passionate about increasing mental health literacy and reducing mental health stigma among People of Color.
Dr. Funke has been invited to speak on various topics including race and culture and their impact on mental health, program development, and coping with cancer to healthcare providers, mental health professionals, and the general public. In service, she serves on executive and advisory boards for organizations addressing mental health needs for underserved populations and multiple committees related to education, clinical training, and diversity promotion.
