  • How can a therapist really help me?
People acquire different ways of managing stress. Some of these coping strategies are healthy while others are not. New challenges arise that overwhelm our resources to manage them, and long-standing issues continue to confront the ineffectiveness of our existing ways of coping. The purpose of therapy with a trained professional is to develop and build on the insight, knowledge, and healthy, effective ways that you function. Every therapist has their own approach to assessing and treating clients. It is important to find out from your potential therapist about their approach(es) to therapy. It is important to find someone who best suits your needs. While some individuals may prefer a supportive and non-directive approaches, others benefit from an active and directive approach. I work to help you gain insight and increase your knowledge about mental health to get unstuck with tools to deal with stress.
  • Do you work with children?
I am clinically trained to work with, and limit my services, to adults (ages 18 and up). Although I do not work with children and adolescents, I may be able to refer you to a mental health provider who does.
  • Do you offer therapy in-person?
At this time, I only offer teletherapy services through a HIPAA compliant and secure online platform. Teletherapy involves receiving therapy using audio and visual technology such as videoconferencing. The telehealth platform ensures that you receive the same high-quality care from the comfort and convenience of your own space. Once an initial visit (an assessment) is scheduled, you will be invited to access a secure patient portal. This is the portal that you will use to electronically check-in for your visits.
  • Is what I share discussed with anyone?
Your privacy and confidentiality are paramount. What you share during your therapy sessions is strictly confidential. I will only disclose information with your explicit consent or under legal and ethical obligations. In certain circumstances, I am legally and ethically obligated to break confidentiality: If there is a threat of harm to yourself or others If you disclose current abuse of a minor, older adult (age 65 or older), or disabled person If I am subpoenaed by a court order to disclose records or session content If any of these situations arise, I will make every effort to discuss them with you before disclosing any information.
  • Which insurance do you accept?
As an out-of-network provider for all insurance companies, I do not participate directly with insurance plans at this time. However, I strive to make the reimbursement process as seamless as possible for my clients. Once you become an established client, you will have access to a secure patient portal and will have the necessary paperwork ("superbill") for each visit. A superbill contains all of the information required by insurance companies for reimbursement purposes. Before your initial visit, please contact your insurance carrier to inquire about their reimbursement rate for outpatient psychotherapy services provided by an out-of-network provider. Reimbursement rates vary depending on the type of out-of-network coverage offered by your employer and typically range from 50% to 90% of the visit fees once you have met your deductible. If you have any questions or need assistance navigating the insurance reimbursement process, I am here to help. I am committed to ensuring that you receive the care you need while maximizing your insurance benefits.
  • When am I billed?
I request credit card information to reserve your appointment. You are not charged at the time of securing your appointment. Full payment for services is due at the time of your visit. Late cancellation or missed appointments (no-show) may result in charges to the provided credit card. Please see rates and policies for more information.
